According to reports, nursing robots moved into the homes of about 20 elderly people in the city last Fall. They distribute medicines on time every day and track their medication. The company plans to launch a new type of nursing robot with a virtual AI assistant, “Lily” at the end of this year to add a dialogue function with the elderly.

John Lindstrom, the administrative director of the city’s elderly care department, said that the goal of the smart digital care program is to create conditions for the elderly to live more independently. “We need to increase the security and independence of the elderly in daily life and reduce their loneliness.”

But he emphasized that nursing robot assistants cannot be an alternative to the elderly alone and must become a whole set of systems. The newly upgraded intelligent assistants need to be combined with various existing digital solutions and to adapt to the conditions and needs of the elderly actively. Meanwhile, the promotion of pension plans needs to be carried out after consultation with doctors, nurses, and other staff of each elderly person. Each case should be evaluated individually and each care solution should be flexible within two to three years.
